How Rack Ratio is funded
Plain-English, FTC-compliant disclosure. Short version: we earn a commission when you buy through our links, it costs you nothing extra, and it never changes what we recommend.
The short version
Rack Ratio is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. When you click one of our buy links and make a purchase, we may earn a commission, at no additional cost to you. You pay exactly what you would have paid anyway.
How our links work
Every buy button routes through a redirect on our own domain (a /go/ link) that adds our Amazon Associates tag (t5strength-20) and sends you to the product on Amazon. We use this redirect so we can swap a retailer or fix a broken link without rewriting the article, and so we can measure which recommendations are useful. The redirect is not indexed by search engines and does not track you beyond registering the click.
Amazon is our default, but the buyer comes first
Amazon is where most of these products are actually sold at the best price and with the fastest stock, so it's our default retailer. When a brand's own store is genuinely the better place to buy — a better price, better stock, or a longer warranty — we'll say so and link there, even when the commission is lower or nothing at all. Some links on this site earn us nothing; we include them because they're the right answer for you.
Commission never changes the ranking
This is the important part. Different products pay us different amounts, and we rank buyer-first regardless. When the cheaper product is the better buy for a small space, it wins — even though it usually pays us less. Prices
Prices shown on Rack Ratio come from the live Amazon Product API and are stamped with the date they were retrieved. Prices and availability change constantly; the price on Amazon at checkout is the one that counts. Where we can't verify a current price, we show "Check price on Amazon" rather than a number that may have gone stale. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
