Editorial Policy

Independence, corrections, and updates

The rules we hold ourselves to, so you can trust the ranking above the buy button.

Rankings are not for sale

No brand can pay to appear on Rack Ratio, pay to rank higher, or pay to remove a competitor. We accept no sponsored placements, no "featured product" fees, and no free units in exchange for coverage. Our only revenue is affiliate commission on purchases you choose to make through our links, and that is disclosed on every commercial page and in full on the affiliate disclosure.

Commission never decides the pick

Different products pay different commission rates, and Amazon pays differently from a brand-direct program. We rank buyer-first regardless: when the cheaper product is the better buy for a small space, it wins the ranking, even though it usually earns us less. When a brand's own store is the better place to buy — better price, stock or warranty — we say so, even if the commission is lower or zero. If we ever recommend the pricier option, it's because it's genuinely better for your room, and the page will explain why.

No fabricated experience or credentials

We do not claim to have lab-tested products we haven't, we do not invent certifications, and we do not publish reviews or ratings from customers who don't exist. Our editorial score is a transparent judgment from documented research (see methodology), clearly labeled as such — never presented as a measured lab result or an aggregate of fake reviews.

Sourcing and accuracy

Every specification traces to a manufacturer spec sheet, manual, or published standard, named and linked on the page. Prices come only from the live Amazon Product API and are date-stamped; a price we can't currently verify is shown as "Check price" rather than a stale number. Where a manufacturer doesn't publish a figure, we write "Not published" instead of guessing.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, we want to fix it. Report an error through the contact page; we aim to correct verified factual errors within 48 hours and will note any material change on the page. Specs are re-checked against current manufacturer data on a rolling basis.

Update cadence

  • Continuously: live prices refresh daily; a price older than 48 hours disappears rather than going stale.
  • Monthly:we re-verify that recommended products are still sold and in stock, and update the "Reviewed" date on each page.
  • Quarterly: we re-evaluate rankings against newly released products and refresh spec data against current manufacturer sheets.

Evergreen pages show a "Reviewed" date rather than a decaying publish date; genuinely time-bound content (seasonal deal roundups) lives in the blog and is dated as such.
